I am always amazed that although we live just 3 miles outside the city limits, we have visits from so many animals during the day.
The duck family has been in our neighborhood since well before we moved in. They have lost some members and added some in the past year.
Truth be told, they hang out in our yard because they know they will be fed twice a day along with the chickens.
And they can be some impatient critters.
The other day, I was a bit late getting outside for the morning feeding when I heard a “tap, tap, tap” on the side door. I didn’t pay much attention until I heard it again. I opened the door to find the head representative of the duck clan standing on the top stair looking quite indignant indeed. The rest of the group stood at the bottom of the steps looking as though they were minutes away from a full on revolt.
I love the number of rabbits that pass through our yard. I always pray they will stay in the side yard and head back to the woods, instead of going through the fence into the dog’s yard.
We found that out by accident after we brought her home last year. Yikes.
Which brings me to our cat, Ophelia, who is what you might refer to as a difficult personality. We love her though.
Most days, anyway.
(She declined to be photographed.)
I am so grateful for the gift of animals. They provide us with so much joy.
Blessings to you and your animal friends,
